Photo + Film a NEW high school campus - BTS
It takes a lot of effort to capture a project like this. Partly because there's a lot to see on a full campus and partly because no matter how much planning done in advance there's always unexpected curveballs the day of the shoot. One of those curveballs was janitorial had started summer cleanup the week prior of flex classrooms (the blue / orange below image below) so our crew found room after room piled high from floor to ceiling with chairs/tables. They went on a hunt for the "best" of them that would require the least amount of work and then rebuilt the room from scratch. This was a room type critical to the project story, was captured in multiple photos, 360 and video so it had to get done and be done right. Having enough hands on set to pull this off and a collaborative team where we're all working together means there's nothing we can't work around.
Shoutout to Lawrence Anderson Productions, our external partner on this shoot.
This is a "full circle" project for the HMC Media team - from initial renderings & animation on the pursuit, an award winning concept for lobby environmental graphics, final renderings to wrap up design and finally capturing it in all its glory as a built project.
My personal favorite aspect of this project is the client required it be designed in anticipation of lasting 100 years. There are thousands of kids every year that will attend and over a span of 100 years there are multiple generations of families whose students will learn & grow inside these walls. We're talking hundreds of thousands of people! I couldn't be prouder of this project.
Having people in the photos is critical to how HMC demonstrates visually what Design for Good means. We partnered with the principal and had 16 students from Del Oro HS join us for 2 days of production. These aren't just models - they're actual students impacted by this project.
